Photaes of The Wiseman Cup Championship

From wisemangolf2011

All I can say is a brilliant weekend was had by all - some great scores from the guys but none of us could match champion Peter Illand's tremendous 40 points. Aberfeldy was a challenging wee course for the championship which kept the competition close with Hughie Gibson and David Wilkie joint second on 36pts followed closely by Big Bill Allen in third with 35pts.

The Competitors and Scores

Tom Gallagher 17pts
A wiley one keeps the ball nice in low in the most challenging high winds and in perfectly calm conditions.

Matt Gallagher 24pts
Our golfing leader, our Monty who every year is in contention to win this championship - this could be his year.

David Gallagher 23pts
My cuz, this will not be his year, no matter how much he says he's been to the driving range it won't account for the banana hook and probable lack of sleep from being a new father let off the leash for a weekend.

William Graham 32pts
Dave's mate and welcome new addition to the group has a golf handicap of 16 so is probably a bit good - how will the wiseman handicap gods treat him after Pitlochry?

Brian Gray 33pts
Current champion, Brian may be hampered this year by the lack of swimming pool and like my cuz Dave may not have slept well this week due to a young lady in his bedroom but for completely different reasons.

Steven Timpson 31pts
The nearly man, and occasional golf blogger can hit a glorious drive to within 10ft of the pin and still get a bogie - touch like a elephant around the greens hampers ma chances.

John Timpson 27pts
My da, it may be his birthday on Friday but expect no handicap favours his deceptively bumbly style gets him some nice stableford points, great with putter even better with the hip flask.

Hughie Gibson 36pts
Former champion, after dinner speaker and the man responsible for the naming of this great competition The Wiseman Cup due to a milk float foray a couple of years ago.

Tom McKillop 26pts
A regular top 5 finisher consistent golf player strong with his irons could be in with a chance this year.

Frank McKillop 17pts
The bold Francie, bold usually in his choice of golf jumper salmon and lemon were part of his collection last year. Good driver but likes a dram have given him a chance by getting 12pm tee times for Saturday.

David Wilkie 36pts
Another welcome new addition to the group am sure he will enjoy a dram and lie about his golf handicap like the rest of us.

Tom Gibbons 25pts
The dentist, adept at extraction this skill comes in handy when your ball is in the deep rough, the sand etc.

Bill Allen 35pts
Big Bill, blasts the golf ball a mile and is a teetotaller. A great combination to beat this group of competitors.

John Hart 21pts
The quiet man - lets his golf do the talking - he probably shouldn't as the guys sat on the balcony trying to enjoy a pint at Stranraer a couple of years ago can confirm as his drive whistled inches past.

Peter Illand 40pts
Multiple wiseman cup champion, our Tiger Woods, not of recent times obviously, think more Tiger of early 2000 strong all round game and great competitor. Injury may hamper his challenge this year.
